About me

I start with the whys.

Hello! I'm Rishabh, a UX designer based in New York City. My journey into UX was driven by a passion for creating digital experiences that are accessible, delightful, and useful.

Getting here

After earning a Bachelor's degree in computer science in 2014, I discovered my love for user interfaces and interaction design while coding software. This revelation led me to pursue a Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction/Design (2015 to 2017), formally entering the world of user experience design.

How I work

My favorite aspect of designing is bridging the gap between business goals and user needs. By focusing intently on the "whys," I excel at identifying the core problems that need solving and crafting UX strategies around them. In nearly every project I've worked on, my UX strategies have influenced product roadmaps and shifted business leaders' thinking towards a more user-centric approach.

Accessibility

I am an Accessibility Bar Raiser at Amazon, so I review other teams' work against the bar and I am accountable for what I approve. Alongside the reviews I write the support and process documentation for my org, sit with designers one to one when a pattern is new to them, and present across the org when the same question keeps coming back.

AI and design ops

I am in an experimental AI Builder role at Amazon, and it is where most of my attention goes right now. The premise I am testing is that AI helps a design org most when it takes on the work that keeps designers from designing, rather than when it generates screens. Two of the tools I built for that are deployed to my org.

  • Design Insight. Paste a Figma link and get simulated usability testing, an accessibility audit, and persona walkthroughs back against those frames. React, AWS Lambda, and Amazon Bedrock.
  • A prototyping agent. I gave it the pages my team designs within, so it renders a home, search, detail, cart or checkout page as it stands in production on the first prompt, and the two and a half hours that used to go on rebuilding one go on the new work instead.

Both are aimed at raising the floor for the whole team. A designer who has never run an accessibility audit gets one in the first hour of a project instead of in the third round of critique. The same tools take on the design ops work the team used to do by hand, the audits and the documentation and the handoff checks.

Away from work

Outside of design, you'll find me immersed in the Marvel universe, exploring the latest Honda innovations, or expanding my sneaker collection. Let's connect and explore how we can create meaningful and accessible designs together!
